An exceptional vintage Jean Paul Gaultier sheer mesh top from the 1990s.
Cut in Gaultier's signature body-skimming stretch mesh, the top features an intricate bandana-inspired paisley print in muted golden beige and black. The elaborate pattern is engineered across the body, sleeves and elongated roll neck, creating a beautifully graphic effect against the transparency of the mesh.
Contrasting black piping traces the shoulders and neckline, while intricate openwork knit detailing finishes the cuffs and hem — adding texture and weight to the otherwise delicate, sheer construction.
A beautiful example of Jean Paul Gaultier's iconic printed mesh work of the 1990s, combining the designer's fascination with tattoo-like surface decoration, transparency and the contours of the body. The mesh itself was produced for Gaultier by the Italian mill Fuzzi, the house behind the printed tulle that defined the era.

Condition
— No obvious damage or imperfections — wear consistent with age and use. No pulls or breaks anywhere in the mesh. The knit trim has softened very slightly with age.
A note on the fit. The mesh has a lot of give, so this sits close and stretches well beyond its flat measurements — it best suits an XXS to a small L, or an AU 4 to a small 12. Please go by the measurements below rather than a size on the label.
Handling. Fine mesh snags easily and a pull cannot be repaired invisibly, so rings, watches, bracelets and long nails need to come off before it goes on, and it should be eased on rather than tugged.
Measurements — taken flat and unstretched, in centimetres. Width is a half measurement — double it for the full way round.

Care while on loan
Clips, tape and pinning into seam allowance only. No pins through the face of the fabric, no stitching, no alterations. Keep fake tan, body makeup and heavy fragrance off the cloth. No smoking, eating or drinking while it's on. Please don't wash, spot-clean, steam or dry-clean anything — I handle all the cleaning myself, and it's already covered in your loan fee. Return it in the garment bag it arrived in.
Shipping and returns
Sent tracked and insured anywhere in Australia, with a prepaid return label included in your loan fee. Lodge it over the counter on or before your return date and send me the tracking number. A $50 per day late fee applies after that. Collection in person isn't available. International loans are arranged case by case.
How a loan works
Four days, for photography only — not events. Apply with your shoot dates and I'll confirm availability, then send you the Archival Loan Agreement and an invoice for the loan fee and damage cover. Where a bond applies it's paid by bank transfer, and if you've borrowed from me before it's waived.
