The archive, on loan.

Archival Loans opens the archive to stylists, photographers, content creators, and anyone with a camera and an idea. A piece travels to you for four days then comes home.

Who it's for

Stylists pulling for editorial. Photographers building a story. Content creators and models who want something with a history in frame. Brands shooting a campaign. And anyone at all who simply wants a beautiful thing for a set of pictures — you don't need a credit list to borrow from me.

For the camera, not the occasion

This is the one rule that matters, so here it is plainly: a piece comes to you to be photographed, not to be worn. It goes on for the camera and comes off when the camera stops.

Yes. A studio booking, a location shoot, a rooftop with a friend and a camera, content for your own feed, a lookbook, a campaign, an afternoon of self-portraits in your living room. You don't need a crew, a permit or a call sheet — a camera and an idea is enough.

No. Wearing it to a party, a wedding, a birthday, a launch, a dinner, a club, a festival, or out for the night. Taking photos while you're there doesn't make it a shoot.

Why I'm strict about it. Every piece in this collection is one of one. There is no second one, and nothing I can order to replace it. A few hours on a shoot is a risk I can plan around — lighting, a garment bag, someone watching the hem. A night out is not. It's not about trust, it's about the fact that these pieces have already survived thirty years and I'd like them to see thirty more.

How it works

  1. Choose your piece. Browse the Archival Loans collection. Every piece lists its own loan fee, bond and measurements.
  2. Send an application. Use the form at the bottom of this page. Tell me the piece, your shoot dates, a line or two about the shoot, and where it's going.
  3. I confirm. If the dates are free, I'll send you the Archival Loan Agreement to sign and an invoice for the loan fee and bond. The loan fee can be paid by card, PayPal or Afterpay. The bond is card or bank transfer only, so I can return it to you in full and without delay.
  4. It ships. Once both are settled, the piece goes out tracked and insured, with a prepaid return label tucked in beside it.
  5. Four days. Your loan period runs four days from the day it lands with you.
  6. It comes home. Post it back with the label enclosed. Once it's back with me and checked, your bond is released within five business days.

Fees and bond

Each piece carries its own loan fee, shown on its page. Return postage is included in it — the label comes with the piece, so sending it home costs you nothing. Alongside the fee I hold a refundable bond, released in full when the piece returns on time and in the condition it left in. The bond is not a second fee — it's simply what stands between an irreplaceable garment and the open road.

Shipping

Australia-wide, tracked and insured in both directions, with return postage included. Collection in person isn't available. International loans are arranged case by case for established clients — just ask me.

Caring for a piece on loan

  • Clips, tape and safety-pinning into seam allowance only — no pins through the face of the fabric, no stitching, no alterations of any kind.
  • No fake tan, body makeup or heavy fragrance against the cloth. A barrier layer wherever you can manage one.
  • No smoking, eating or drinking while the piece is on.
  • Please don't wash, spot-clean, steam or dry-clean anything, ever. Send it back exactly as it is — I handle all the cleaning myself, and it's already covered in your loan fee.
  • Keep it out of the rain and off the floor, and return it in the garment bag it arrived in.

Getting it back to me on time

Lodge the parcel over the counter on or before your return date and send me the tracking number. A late fee of $50 per piece per day applies for every day a piece hasn't been lodged past its due date, so if something goes wrong with your shoot, message me before the date rather than after — I can almost always move things around.

Credit

I ask that Highrack Studios is credited wherever the images are published or posted — a tag on social, a credit line in an editorial. It costs you nothing and it's how the archive keeps growing with special pieces for you.
