An exceptional vintage Jean Paul Gaultier Femme cardigan featuring one of the designer's signature art-inspired trompe l'œil prints.
Cut from fine semi-sheer mesh, the cardigan is printed throughout with The Three Graces, after Peter Paul Rubens, c. 1635 — rendered in beautifully muted shades of sage green, ochre, cream and washed blue. The three figures fall across the back, with the composition continuing in fragments around the body and sleeves.
The placement of the artwork follows the body, with oversized nude figures extending across the torso and sleeves to create Gaultier's distinctive second-skin effect.
Finished with a deep V neckline, a delicate shell button front and softly fluted edges, the exceptionally fine mesh gives the piece an almost translucent, watercolour quality when worn.
A beautiful example of Jean Paul Gaultier's celebrated experimentation with the human form, fine-art imagery and printed mesh — and a particularly special archival piece from the designer's 1990s era.

A note on the fit. A close, second-skin cut, and archive sizing rarely matches modern sizing. The mesh has stretch, and it best suits an AU 6–10, or an XS to M. Please go by the measurements below rather than the size on the label.
Handling. This is the most delicate piece in the collection. The mesh is exceptionally fine and a pull cannot be repaired invisibly, so rings, watches, bracelets and long nails need to come off before it goes on, and it should be lifted rather than tugged over the head.
Measurements — taken flat and unstretched, in centimetres. Body width is a half measurement — double it for the full way round. Please keep in mind this garment has a lot of stretch, so it will go well beyond these figures.

Care while on loan
Clips, tape and pinning into seam allowance only. No pins through the face of the fabric, no stitching, no alterations. Keep fake tan, body makeup and heavy fragrance off the cloth. No smoking, eating or drinking while it's on. Please don't wash, spot-clean, steam or dry-clean anything — I handle all the cleaning myself, and it's already covered in your loan fee. Return it in the garment bag it arrived in.
Shipping and returns
Sent tracked and insured anywhere in Australia, with a prepaid return label included in your loan fee. Lodge it over the counter on or before your return date and send me the tracking number. A $50 per day late fee applies after that. Collection in person isn't available. International loans are arranged case by case.
How a loan works
Four days, for photography only — not events. Apply with your shoot dates and I'll confirm availability, then send you the Archival Loan Agreement and an invoice for the loan fee and damage cover. Where a bond applies it's paid by bank transfer, and if you've borrowed from me before it's waived.
